Reviews for the Chelsea Handler Show

I have to be honest, I hadn’t really heard of the Chelsea Handler before I started seeing promo’s for her show, but then again, I hadn’t heard of Conan O’Brian before either. But I have to admit this is a hilarious show! How the hell did E! get a hold of this one? It should be on Comedy Central or NBC.

Now I know that reviewers will make comparison’s to this show and "Chappelle's Show" or others like “The Mind Of Mencia”, and there are some minor similarities, all these shows have a comedian come out and do a little standup then go into filmed bits. But that’s where the similarities end. “The Chelsea Handler Show” is running several IQ points above the other shows. Instead of being racially charged, she is more socially charged. How many shows would do a parody of “Dinner for Five”? I’ll tell you how many, NONE! Because only a few people even know what “Dinner for Five” is. But it turned out to be one of the best bits in the show.

If the rest of the series is as good as this, and this isn’t just an example of a very well written pilot, then I see really big things for Ms. Handler. Her ability to make fun of herself and the world in general is a refreshing change from the shows mentioned above. Also by not featuring herself in every single skit she’s gone from clever actress to someone who can actually make a point without being on screen.

From what I’ve seen of this show, Chelsea Handler is one of the funniest people on TV, not just one of the funniest women. Her lovely good looks, and great smile add to the fact that when she is drawing down on you with great jab, she looks like a million bucks doing it. Not to many shows would do a gay version of “The Apprentice” complete with a “better than Martha Stewart” tag line. But Chelsea’s was dead on and wickedly funny.

My only question would be, how could I get this woman out on a date? Smart, funny, sexy, and good looking? She could certainly be a future Ex-Mrs. Kelvington.

Just my 2¢,
Kelvington , TV Guide

I am really digging “The Chelsea Handler Show” on the E! Channel. After seeing the titular star on about 5,000 E! “Top Whatever List” shows, I sort of got the hang of her comic stylings before she even got her own show. True to form, Chelsea Handler is as rough and thumble and insanely funny on her show as she was on those stupid list shows.
“The Chelsea Handler Show” is basically a variety show, with Chelsea greeting a live audience and then lauching into various sketches. The fact that the host is a really hot blonde with a nice rack sort of makes watching the show all the better. “Handler” has two things going for it: 1) The host, as mentioned, is funny, slutty, and dirty (in a slutty sort of way), and 2) It’s on the E! Channel, so there is more leeway for “Handler” to fail or at least build up an audience than if it was on a major network.

Don't expect run of the mill humor that's geared towards the masses. You need a bit of gray matter to get the humor on this show; pay attention and you'll be laughing hard. The writing is well-thought out and as such deserves an audience that who will appreciate it. Chelsea's humor is high on self-depreciation but not in a way that grates one's nerves. An attractive woman, she actually downplays her physical beauty and relays on the quality of the show's writing. Watch her carefully and you'll see her dedication to her performance minus any cheap gimmicks. Her show is definitely a great replacement for "Taradise" which simply exploited the faults of a B-Actress as she stumbled her way through exotic locales.
